Our first road story from markets, kilometres, and madness

Hey there, salami lovers!

We’re not exactly locals around here…

But just like you, we love a good snack, an honest product, and a story about how it all ends up on your plate.

If you think the life of a salami crew is “slice, smile, sell”… well… sometimes, yeah.

But most of the time? It’s road trips, markets, surprises, half-asleep sunrises, thermos coffee, and the feeling that every weekend is a mini-adventure.

So here it is — the story we’ve been meaning to share.

🚐 Rule #1 of the road: if you’re heading to a market, expect wind, rain, or a customer asking for “something not spicy… but spicy”

While most people spend their weekends at home, we load up the van, fire up the GPS, and head off to the next town.

Sometimes it’s just around the corner.

Sometimes it’s across three weather zones.

Melbourne, you beautiful unpredictable creature.

But you know what all these trips have in common?

People.

Those legends who walk up, smile, and say:

“I got that one last time… the spicy-but-not-too-spicy one! Got any more of that?”

And we’re like:

“Mate, you’re our kind of human. Take it. The Tinkle Bell remembers you.”

🧭 We don’t just sell — we collect stories

Every market has its own personality.

  • At one, you’re holding the tent down so it doesn’t fly into the next postcode.

  • At another, an old bloke tells you how he used to make salami in the 70s.

  • At the next one, kids try salami and suddenly act like they’re full-grown adults.

We gather all of it — the smells, faces, towns, early morning frost, last-minute coffees, and kilometres of road.

Because Salami Shack isn’t just “a stall that sells salami.”

It’s a bit of travel, a bit of comedy, and a lot of flavour.

🍖 And yes — we’re genuine fans of what we do

We may not be locals, but we love a good snack.

We’re not writers, but we love a good story.

And we’re not perfect marketers, but we know one truth:

If the product isn’t good, no marketing in the world will save it.

That’s why we pick suppliers based on taste, texture, curing, and honest quality — not fancy talk.

If a batch isn’t up to our standards, it doesn’t hit your table. Simple as that.

🔥 The plan: we’ll be writing. Often. Honestly. Just as it is.

This is our first blog post, but definitely not the last.

Expect:

✔ road stories

✔ behind-the-scenes from markets

✔ jokes too good not to tell

✔ tips on storing, serving, and choosing salami

✔ little hacks for people who love good food

And of course:

a bit of spice, a bit of cheek, and a whole lot of real flavour.

Stick around.

It only gets better from here.
